Overview

Amazon CloudWatch RUM is AWS's client-side real-user monitoring service. The browser SDK collects page-load timings, JS errors and AJAX traces and ships them to a regional `dataplane.rum.<region>.amazonaws.com` endpoint via Cognito-issued IAM credentials.

Common mistakes

  • 1Forgetting to allowlist the accompanying `cognito-identity` and `sts` endpoints in CSP, which makes the RUM beacon fail silently when locked-down content security policies are enabled
