Common mistakes
- 1Enabling Google Signals with only analytics consent, when advertising consent is required for remarketing
- 2Not disclosing cross-device tracking via Google Signals in the privacy notice
- 3Enabling Signals by default in GA4 without understanding the consent implications
Compliance considerations
When enabled, Google Signals links analytics data to Google account data for signed-in users, enabling cross-device reporting and remarketing audiences. This significantly increases the compliance burden as it enables user-level identification and advertising use of analytics data. Requires advertising consent — not just analytics consent.
