Common mistakes
- 1Not selecting EU data residency when monitoring applications serving EU users
- 2Allowing full URL capture including path segments and query parameters containing personal data
- 3Not reviewing error messages and stack traces for inadvertent personal data exposure
Compliance considerations
Consent is required before loading the browser agent. The JavaScript agent sets cookies and transmits performance telemetry (page timing, JS errors, AJAX details) to New Relic's external domain, which falls under ePrivacy Article 5(3). Error messages and stack traces may contain personal data. Server-side APM is the consent-free alternative for performance monitoring. Session Replay requires explicit consent as it captures user interactions. EU data residency available (New Relic EU region). Configure data masking for sensitive URL parameters and error messages.
